But I digress...back to the point of this post. As I went through the check-out line at Giant, yet again, with a jumbo box of Huggies, yet again, and was appalled at the price, yet again, I was reminded of the passing thoughts I'd once had on cloth diapering. At face value, it always seemed a little bit crazy to me. But then I reconsidered...I'm a stay-at-home mom. Sure, I don't always get the house cleaned up perfectly every day and the laundry isn't always folded and put away, but I do have the time to do it. And if it's something Ellie needs, like a diaper, well, there's no compromising on that (versus not doing my own laundry because no one will really know if I wear that shirt two days in a row).
OK, so what about leaks? Honestly, we don't have a great track record with that as it is. My most recent Huggies purchase was in a size 3, despite the size 2 being listed for up to 16lbs, just because her size 2s had her soaked in pee in the mornings more often than not. Well guess what? The size 3s are too big and now she leaks even more. *eye roll*
But poop is gross, and touching poop is even more gross. That's a lame excuse, though, because between Joey and Ellie it definitely isn't like no poop has ever come in contact with me before. And reference the flushable liners, you just pull them out and flush them, then rinse the diaper and leave it wet until the next wash. Not bad, certainly doable.
So I did lots more research and discovered the cloth diapering can save over $1000, not to mention the fact that the diapers can be re-used for future children (can't do that with disposables!). I also found that this great cloth diaper site, jilliansdrawers.com, has a "Try Cloth for $10" program. For a deposit of about $150, you get all the items listed above. You try them for 21 days, then mail back whatever items you don't want. If you choose not to take any of the items, you are refunded all but the $10 program fee. I just placed my order and they should be arriving sometime next week!

Haha, yes, you are insane! :) JK, I couldn't do it but my hat goes off to those that can. I just make sure to stock up on diapers when there are sales & coupons coinciding so I don't spend anywhere near retail on them. Good luck with the adventure - can't wait to hear the report!
Hey, how's potty training going??? Did she do OK with the trip or did you let it go while you were in Boston?
Going great! She was a trooper in Boston and really did well. Still working on perfecting #2 but that will come soon enough, I'm sure. :)
That's awesome!! Way to go, C!!!
yup, sounds pretty crazy! but good luck and let us know how it goes!
