First the bad news...when I was driving in this morning, I was not paying attention well and I ran into a column in the garage. These particular columns are very poorly placed, and the parking spots are all really tight, so it does happen in that garage every once in a while (no, not just to me). But this particular accident was quite bad. It left a huge scratch approximately three feet wide by one foot tall along the rear driver's side panel. And a few dents even, right above the tire. Baby and I are absolutely fine, I just feel really upset that I did this to my car. So on top of getting the broken sunroof fixed, I now also need to get this panel taken care of as well. At least our deductible is low.
Now the good news...I passed the three hour glucose tolerance test with flying colors! Apparently my blood sugar level at the one hour draw was actually lower for the three hour test than it had been for the one hour, which pretty much confirms my theory that the milk and banana I had eaten before the one hour test was what put me over the edge. So no gestational diabetes for me! I have to go back and repeat the test again between 25 and 28 weeks. My next appointment is actually at just over 25 weeks, so I think I'm going to go ahead and schedule another three hour test around that visit. It's a long time to just sit in a waiting room, but the midwife appointment breaks it up nicely and it worked out really well this time.
This second half of the second trimester seems to be moving much more quickly for lots of different reasons. First, Tom and I have so much going on right now, I feel like I'm never sitting still. Second, all the books and checklists are now telling me to start getting things done. For example, my midwife told me to register at the hospital already. So we're now registered - isn't that nuts?? So we're going to be busy busy busy until my next OB appointment. By the time we get to that appointment, I'll only have two weeks left in the second trimester!!! And only three weeks left until I start going to midwife appointments every other week instead of just once a month. That's when you know things are cooking. I just can't wait to meet this baby :)
