23 Weeks Down, 17 To Go!

We can now officially say that Ellie will be here in less than 4 months! Of course, that assumes she'll arrive on her due date, which may or may not be true, but who cares?? It's exciting! I look at her precious little face all the time and just can't wait to meet her.

We've been doing some research on pediatricians and I think we have it narrowed down to Crestwood Pediatrics just over the border in Manassas. They've come very highly recommended and I like what I've seen so far of their website. I'll probably give them a call soon to go in for a visit and ask some questions. I'd really like to do some more research on vaccinations first, so I can decide if an alternate vaccinating schedule is something that's important to me. We also signed up for our birthing classes - it's a five week program and will start at the end of August and run through September. We still need to sign up for the breastfeeding course and the infant care course, and maybe a separate infant/child CPR and First Aid course as well.

I've definitely started feeling that nesting bug kick in this week, but since my belly's getting heavier by the day, it's becoming harder to actually accomplish all the things I want to get done. Since we were traveling all day on Monday, I wasn't able to deep clean my basement like I usually do on Mondays and I was planning on doubling up on chores last night to make up for it. I was able to get the kitchen done, but by the time I finished that, my back was killing me and it was pretty clear that I can't double up on my chores anymore.

We got so many nice clothes and things for Ellie while we were home last weekend that I'm really hoping to get started on her closet this weekend so I can feel like things are in the right places. Nothing bothers me more than not having a home for something - it's why I really don't have any knicknacks or collectibles around our house. So having all her adorable little clothes sitting in a pile in my living room is making me nuts. It'd be nice if I could just pop them into her closet now, but I'm sure you all know what happens when you have an unused closet in an unused room - it fills with junk. Not only that, but it's very oddly proportioned, and the only rod is about a foot too high for me to reach. And it's maybe three feet long. I have no clue what the previous homeowners were using it for, but it definitely doesn't work as a little girl's closet.

How far along? 23 weeks

Best moment this week: Being able to feel Ellie on the outside really clearly for the first time! Unfortunately, Tom wasn't around for it, but Kristen was able to feel her :)

What I am looking forward to: Getting some work done on the house to prepare for Ellie's arrival.

Weekly Wisdom: When it comes to babies, people are incredibly generous! Thanks to everyone who gave us clothes and toys and things for our baby girl!
