This weekend has been a crazy whirlwind, and I'm so glad we were able to come home for everything. It's been great to spend time with family and get to see everyone. Today we leave with plans to come back in August and a trunk full of stuff for the baby.
On Friday, we drove out at 5:45am and missed traffic the whole way up to CT. We made it in within six and a half hours. So yeah, you could definitely say we made good time! When we got here, we dropped Joey off, stopped off at the Skypeks' to visit for a bit, then I went back to my parents' house for pizza and Jake's graduation. By the time we got to the graduation, almost all the seats were filled up, but we were able to find spots right next to my friend Jenny's family. There ceremony was good, but long and hot! It was great seeing Jake walk across the stage, though, I'm so proud of him! He'll be going to Manchester Community College in the fall to fulfill prerequisites, then to WNEC for a Mechanical Engineering degree.
On Saturday, Tom's aunt and uncle visited with us for a while, then we both went over to my parents' house for Jake's graduation cookout. We saw a TON of family we hadn't seen in a long while, some not since our wedding. It was really relaxing and great to be home visiting. We got back to Tom's house around 6:30 and visited with Kate and Tait for a bit. Then Tom met up with his friends to see an Aquanett show and I went to bed - I was exhausted!
On Sunday morning, I met up with my dad and my grandmother for breakfast at the Chuck Wagon. Eating at the Chuck Wagon is always nice, it's one of those very small town experiences that just make you feel at home. I gave Dad his Father's Day present, the movie "Gran Torino", which worked perfectly since he hasn't seen the whole thing yet. Good movie :) Anyway, after breakfast it was time to get ready for Audrey's bridal shower. The decorations turned out awesome, and the food was great! It was a little rainy for a bit, but we stayed dry under the tents and I think Audrey had a good time. Once everything there was finished and cleaned up, I went out for some snacks with Kristen and we ended up talking in my car for a solid hour and a half about politics, the baby, and life in general. It's always good to see her, she's a true friend and definitely one of those people who make you think about your opinions. She also happened to be the first person to feel the baby on the outside last night! I wish it could have been Tom, but the experience was wonderful, anyway!
Today we're headed back home, but we've decided to take the slightly longer Pennsylvania route and leave whenever we're ready instead of leaving super early like we usually do. So right now, I'm just waiting for Tom to wake up so we can pack and head out!
