17 Weeks!

Well, this week has been interesting. I had to drop Tom off at the airport on Monday morning so he could fly off to Colorado for a big work meeting. He's been gone the last two nights and wouldn't you know it, the first night I woke up at 3:30am to a nice eye infection. Lovely. So I took yesterday off and made my way out to the doctor's office to get some ointment. I'm feeling better, but I'm not allowed to wear make-up for the rest of the week, so I feel a bit naked. Of course being out for half of Monday and all of Tuesday has put me a little behind. But we've been painfully slow the past few weeks, so I'm not too worried.

I put together the crib yesterday and it looks great, I love it! However, I did decide that I'm not crazy about the paint color. It's just way too shiny and primary. The woman at Home Depot talked me into an eggshell finish, I should have stuck with my gut and gone with a flat. So at some point I'm going to have to head back out and pick a new paint. Darn.

Now that we're a solid month into the second trimester, I've begun the mental countdown to viability at 24 weeks. Not that I would want the baby to come at 24 weeks, but it is certainly comforting to know that if he/she does make an early appearance, the outcome would be better after 24 weeks.

How far along? 17 weeks

Best moment this week: Hearing the baby's beautiful little heartbeat on the Doppler at our appointment last Thursday...woosh woosh woosh woosh woosh.

What I am looking forward to: The entire month of June.

Weekly Wisdom: Last night I realized just how important June will be in the course of this pregnancy. The first week of June, we will hit the halfway mark. By the last week, our baby will be viable. At some point in that month, I should begin to feel the baby moving regularly, and it's possible Tom will be able to feel the baby by the end of the month, too! Plus we'll be finding out if it's a boy or a girl, and getting a chance to go home and visit our friends and family (though that last part really has nothing to do with the pregnancy).
