18 Weeks Today!

This week has been DRAGGING. SO. SLOWLY. It's absurd. As such, I don't really have a ton to talk about. Tommy and I have been trying to prepare for labor by walking regularly (especially since the weather's been so amazing lately), and doing a pregnancy pilates DVD. It's been good, I definitely feel more healthy and stronger when I'm working out regularly and it is also helping me feel like I'm actively trying to do something to get ready for labor.

I'm hoping to really dig in and get some solid work done on the nursery this weekend. We're going to head over to a local baby and children furniture store tonight in search of the perfect glider. We tried one at Sears and it was comfortable, but a little narrow. Then we tried one at Buy Buy Baby and it was beautiful, but sooo expensive. Then we tried one at Target and the arm fell off when I sat in it!! I definitely did not realize the glider was going to be so ridiculously expensive. But, you do pay for quality, so now I'm considering paying more for a nicer model and using it elsewhere in the house after our baby isn't quite a baby anymore. My dream glider would be all-upholstered in a tan fabric, with a gliding ottoman and a recline feature. But we'll see, I don't know if we'll ultimately be able to stomach the price.

Oh, and a really fun thing that happened just this morning! I went to the little convenience store downstairs to buy a snack before a meeting I had to dial into and the cashier asked me when I'm due! That's my very first stranger comment! :-) So I must be definitely showing now...sometimes when I look in the mirror, I think I look huge, but other times I don't even think I'm showing, so it's very cool to have some validation that it's now obvious enough to others that they'd ask. I will definitely add a belly pic tonight, especially since I forgot last week.

How far along? 18 weeks

Best moment this week: Getting my first comment on my bump from a stranger! And it happened just minutes ago :)

What I am looking forward to: Going home for a visit in mid-June, I dreamed about our visit last night and it made me even more homesick than before. Can't wait to see our friends and families!

Weekly Wisdom: Getting your first stranger comment is way more exciting than I would have initially thought :)

you never, EVER should have posted a link to "babysteals.com" on your blog. I clicked it, added it to my cart, cried because I didn't have a baby, then bought it (a Ju-Ju-Be changing/diaper bag) anyway. Sigh... tell your baby it needs to have a serious, convincing talk with Bruce when it arrives!!!!

Oh gosh, Audrey!! I didn't even buy one of those!! :) it will be your time soon enough, believe me, the transition to being married will be tough enough without adding a baby to it. Do some traveling, get savings in order, and enjoy yourselves and each other for a while :) I'm so glad we're having our baby, but I would not trade the time we've had alone together for the world. I feel like it's made our marriage so powerful and strong, and I do feel ready to add a baby to the mix now - I thought we were ready a year and a half ago, but now I don't think so. I think we've only been ready in the past 9 months or so. *hugs*
