All By Myself and Updates

Shamelessly stealing Christie C.'s bullet blog format...

- Had our 16 week appointment last Thursday, it went well! It was our first time meeting with the midwife, and everyone in the office was super nice. We got to hear the baby on the Doppler for the first time and Anne let us listen in for quite a few minutes while we just grinned like a couple of idiots. She also showed us exactly where my uterus has grown to and helped Tom feel the top of it as well. And she went over every single one of the papers in my file, including test reports none of the other doctors had bothered to discuss with us. The best news is that I am not a carrier for any of the genetic diseases they tested for, so our baby won't be susceptible to cystic fibrosis or any of the other diseases they looked for!

- I fell in love with a diaper bag this weekend that is way too expensive. It's about $100, but I love it, so I think I might splurge on it anyway. I never spend money on purses or anything like that, so I feel like I can get away with it :)

- I'm 98% finished painting the baby's room. I just have to do one more pass around the edges, then I'm done! I also pulled the crib out of the box and I will put that together this week as well. I'll definitely share photos when I'm done - be prepared, the room is BRIGHT. I just keep telling myself that with furniture in the room and accessories on the walls, it'll look great.

- We made a trip out to Buy Buy Baby and Target this weekend and checked out some gliders. The ones at Buy Buy Baby were way too expensive, and the only one Target had set up literally fell apart when I sat in it. No good. We also tried one at Sears, but it was a little narrow for us (we want to be able to read to our baby in it when he/she gets a little bigger). I'm going to take a look at La-Z-Boy recliners next, I've heard good things about those.

- Best purchase of the weekend was definitely my new foot spa. All the walking we did on Saturday and Sunday in the heat made my feet swell up and soaking them in hot water with jets and bubbles was amazing. Best thing ever. I highly recommend.

- I had to drop off Tommy at the airport this morning, so now Joey, baby, and I are on our own for the next few days :( Whenever his work takes him to different parts of the country, I am reminded of how big a part of my life he is and how nothing seems the same when he's not around. Everything just seems a bit easier when he's with me.

Gotta love the bullet blog :)

Hearing the baby on the doppler is the best! I still get the biggest smile on my face when I hear it at my weekly appointments.

What diaper bag did you fall in love with? The one I got (well my mom bought it for me, but I would've bought it anyway) was over $100 - but seeing as I'm SUPER picky about bags/purses (I only own a few because I'm not a fan of most...) I figured it was a well worth it investment for something I'd be using every day. I've bought cheap bags in the past that never hold up after you wash them either, and with all the stuff that gets spilled in a diaper bag I wanted something to last!

Can't wait to see pictures of the nursery and I can't believe you are almost 1/2 way done! Woohoo!

*well worth THE investment, I can type :)

Christie, it's the Ju Ju Be Be All...which one did you end up getting? I'm not usually into purses/bags, but this one won me over. I love that it is messenger style, love that the inside lining is a light color, love the Teflon coating, all of it :) The total price is about $118, but I found a 15% off coupon, plus free shipping and a free mini baby blanket, so that's helping to justify the purchase lol. It's machine washable, too!

I also can't believe we're almost 1/2 way done. I knew it would pass quickly, but I guess I wasn't prepared for HOW quickly!!!!

Aud - Buy Buy Baby was pretty cool, it was bigger and had more selection than a BRU normally would, but it was PACKED!!!! I kept running into people.

The Ju Ju Be Be All is the one I have and I am in LOVE with it - I know I haven't used it with a baby yet, but I can't say enough good things about it. Definitely get it, especially if you have the coupon!

Time does fly! However, I'm glad I had a pretty good sized "to do" list coming into 3rd tri because I honestly believe it has kept me from going stir crazy these past couple of months. I just finished off the last of the big things this morning and it has definitely helped things move quickly - some people say their 3rd trimester is the slowest but mine has been the fastest by far! I'm full term tomorrow!

lol That's so funny that we both love the Be All. Good to hear the rave review!!! I meant to check it out in person at Buy Buy Baby, but I forgot when I was there :( I know they sell it at Nordstrom's in the mall, too, so I might go check there soon.

I'm hoping to be more or less done preparing everything soon after my shower at 30 weeks. I think if I was in Alaska and doing the SAHM gig, I'd feel the same as you, but nope, I will be working and trying to get through the nasty DC heat/humidity combo in my 3rd tri. I doubt I'll want to do much of anything lol

PS I think you should do a post on your Ju Ju Be :)

Ooh good call, forgot about your humidity.

I'm all for living in Anchorage if you are going to be pregnant in the summer! Hopefully it won't be too bad for you in DC though.

Maybe I'll do a post about it after she gets here so I can review it having used it with an actual baby :) I'll title it "an ode to my diaper bag" - hehehe.

What pattern do you think you'll get?

It's actually been really nice the past few days. We had about a week straight of days in the 90's with lots of pollen about a month ago, which perfectly coincided with a series of heat flashes. GREAT combo. :-P

Yes, I think you should DEFINITELY do a review...I don't think I'll wait that long to actually buy it (not sure when that coupon will expire), but it'll get me fired up for baby! :) I actually think I like the perky perennials, but it's a little out of my comfort zone...I'm generally not a pattern girl. What did you get?

I got the Lotus Lullaby - I'm not usually a pattern girl either, but I loved this one and Aaron really liked it too - it looks like the album cover of one of his favorite bands :)

Have you watched the video about it on the site yet?

Shannon, you know you can use Bed Bath & Beyond 20% off coupons at Buy Buy Baby, right? Only thing is that you can't use expired ones like you can at Bed Bath & Beyond. Otherwise, you can use 1 per item in your purchase. There are some restrictions listed out at the bottom but their mostly for the high-end strollers and car seats.

C - Lotus lullaby is actually at the top of my list, too! :) I really would like to see the patterns in person before I make a final decision, I'm hoping to get over to the mall sometime this week. Maybe Friday.

A - I did know that, Buy Buy Baby is really a great store. Actually, that was the first thing I checked on the coupon, and it looks like our stroller is excluded :( Oh well! I'm sure I'll find something to buy there lol
