A New Blog to Love!

HOW have I never discovered this blog before now??? WHERE has it been all my life??? I love, love, LOVE this blog, it's full of great ideas for activities, lessons, and learning for kids from birth through 5 years. We're planning to homeschool Ellie at least through pre-school and I'm starting the process of idea-gathering now. One of my favorite resources are the blogs of moms who have been there before and are there now - the 1+1+1=1 blog is another fantastic resource that I check out regularly. But this one I've never seen before - http://www.icanteachmychild.com/ - and it's great! She even set up a pretend voting booth for her little one on election day - how cool is that??

I've also started working with Ellie on baby signing again since she seemed to easily pick up "more" from Abby and the girls the last time she was there. Of course, she has yet to do it at home, but I figure it can't be too far off if I just keep practicing with her. I think the problem is that she knows I know what she means with her points and gestures. She's been known to direct me up the stairs, to the kitchen, in the fridge, and to her sippy cup all with body language. But signing would be way easier for both of us.

Anyway, we've been really busy around here lately (today was the first day all week we stayed home all day and even that was just because I canceled plans due to the rain) and I have a hunch it'll only be getting busier with the holiday season approaching. Because of that, I think I'm going to stick with my original plan of starting some tot-school/pre-learning/intentional play type stuff after we get back from our holiday travels, probably starting up in the middle or end of January. Ellie's really bright and has tons of natural curiosity, I think she'd really benefit from some fun learning activities and a little more structure to our day.
