This week, 3lb ground turkey tubs were on sale for $1.99/lb - since Tom and I are both dieting, all of our meals need to be planned using the Abs Diet, Atkins, South Beach, or other low-calorie/low-carb recipes. jeez louise! i wish i had the time and dedication to do this! I have been couponing for a year now but i can only do one trip/one day, so i cant make a huge difference. I love your post! I can totally tell we read some of the same blogs :-) This is me someday!
lol yeah, I usually organize my big list on Sunday where I take our menu and match it up with the sales, then I tweak it on Monday based on stuff I read online. You guys don't have as nice a layout as we have, either, though - we've got Target, Walmart, and Kmart 15 minutes away, Shopper's and Giant on the same street 5 minutes away, and CVS and Walgreens within about 10 minutes on the same street. I could feasibly hit up all 7 of them in the same day, but I don't think I ever would.
I'm glad you like the post, I'll keep putting them up and hopefully it'll help you get some ideas - that's where I get the majority of my info from, blogs.
Oh, and I think the biggest revelation I had was to buy things based on what meats you're going to use...so like this week ground turkey was a really great price at Giant, so I did my grocery shopping there and just organized my coupons around their sales. If Shoppers had had a better deal on ground turkey and I went there instead, I would have ended up with a completely different set of sides and whatnot based on their sales. But meat is usually the most expensive thing on our table, so it makes sense to start the menu using what meat is on sale, then I write down what I need to make the meals based on what is missing from my pantry (ie. I needed corn this week), then I match up the remaining sales to the coupons I have. Saves a lot of effort and money doing it that way - if I just go out without a menu plan, we don't eat nearly as well and I tend to spend a lot more money just b/c I'm getting good deals w/no focus.
