For some reason, 32 weeks has always been a big milestone in my mind - maybe it's because at this point, the baby is developed enough to have the same shot at survival as a full-term baby. Or maybe it's because 32 weeks in means there are only 8 weeks left, and 8 is a nice, round number. With 8 weeks left, that means less than two full months until Miss Eleanor is home in our arms! Two months is, generally speaking, not a lot of time at all, so I'm now feeling like we're most definitely in the home stretch.
According to the baby books, Ellie should now weigh around 4lbs, and quite possibly more. Since babies are born averaging anywhere from 6 to 9 lbs at full term, from here on out it'll be more difficult to accurately guess how big she is. 4lbs is great, but we're still looking to nearly double that before our little chunker is born! We have our 32 week appointment this afternoon and we plan to discuss our birth wish list with today's midwife, Wendy. Oh, and Ellie's car seat stroller base should be delivered today, too! We bought it using our American Express rewards points, so it was like a freebie :)
How far along? 32 weeks!!!
Best moment this week? Going to our first birthing class and really starting to prepare for labor and Ellie's arrival.
What I am looking forward to: Taking a nap this afternoon? I seem to be able to take really deep naps after work now, which helps to make up for how tired I get during the day and how poorly I sleep at night. I've been putting on my hypnosis CD and generally don't make it past "you feel the bottoms of your feet tingle with relaxation" before I am OUT. And of course I'm looking forward to hearing Eleanor's heartbeat after work today. LOVE that sound - it's so different now, no more woosh woosh woosh, now it's a thump thump THUMP!
Weekly Wisdom: Crossing things off your pre-baby to-do list feels AMAZING. Seriously, even getting just one thing done makes me feel so accomplished and so much more ready for her.
