I <3 FNBO Direct

In preparation for Miss Eleanor's much-anticipated arrival this fall, Tom and I have been looking into different savings/investment vehicles. Prior to Ellie, we had been intent on paying off our outstanding student and car loans, putting as much money as possible into those accounts each month and keeping our savings relatively low. With our daughter on the way, though, priorities have been shifting. Since I'll be staying at home for the few years with her and any future children, we've now been working to increase our emergency fund so that we'll have six months' worth of expenses saved up by the time I put in my notice. We are definitely on our way to that goal and in the process I found FNBO Direct.

Since enrolling in FNBO's savings plan at the end of April, we've already made $10 in interest, with $7 of that coming in the last month alone! The APY is 1.5% - compared to Bank of America's measly .1% APY, that's a significant amount!

Anyway, I'm just really excited about our nearly $10 in profit just for using this savings account and wanted to share in case any of you are in the market for some new savings!
