26 Weeks and Headed to NC!

So apparently I haven't had much to say this week...I feel like I just haven't had a minute to rest. I've been battling swelling in my feet and ankles since last week. It seems as though I start the day fine, but it gets progressively worse as I sit at my desk all day, and is quite bad by the end of the week. And as the fluid redistributes through the night, my right hand especially has been going numb and tingly, and I usually have some issues getting ready in the morning because of it. My midwife recommended a wrist splint, but I haven't made it out to pick one up yet.

In other health-related news, I got the call yesterday that I failed one of the four blood draws that make up the three hour glucose test. I am so sick of this test, you have no idea. You basically have to sit in the office for 3+ hours with nothing to do but get a vial of blood drawn on the hour, every hour. And you have to fast, which is never fun. From what I've seen, most practices would just deem you as having passed if you only fail one of the draws, but lucky me, I have a very conservative group of midwives who are making me take the test AGAIN next month. Ultimately, I'm glad for all the close monitoring, but since I've already taken this test twice before, not counting the early one hour test, it's quickly becoming the bane of this pregnancy. Maybe I'll pick up a new book before the test so I'm at least occupied.

This weekend should be great, we're headed down to North Carolina to visit with my grandparents and spend some time on the beach! I wish we could spend longer than just two days, but since we're headed to Connecticut for a full week just a a few weeks from now, we didn't have the time to spare. But I'm sure it'll be a great weekend, I've already heard some of the plans they've made for us and I'm excited!

As for Ellie, she's doing very well. According to the baby books, she should now weigh around 2lbs and should be opening up her eyes any day now. Of course, there's not much to see in there, but it's still good practice! The blood vessels and air sacs in her lungs are also getting more developed. If she had to be born now, she'd have an 84% chance of surviving. Once we hit 32 weeks, the odds will be greater than 95%, so we really are entering the home stretch of development now! Oh, and we're officially in the double-digit countdown...just 98 days left until her due date!

How far along? 26 weeks, less than 100 days left til her due date!

Best moment this week? Last night I felt one good kick on the outside just as I was falling asleep. Kicks are so funny - on the inside, they feel nothing like what I imagined they'd feel like.

What I am looking forward to: Heading out to NC after work on Friday! Woohoo!

Weekly Wisdom: Ellie really loves music of all kinds - she loves the TV show "So You Think You Can Dance," loves to hear her Daddy play his guitar for her, and loved the songs by the touring choir at church last Sunday. She's a dancer for sure, whenever she hears music like that, she starts kicking!
