Got Our Crib Just in Time...

Babies 'R' Us just recently decided to discontinue all their dropside cribs - ours included. They will be phasing them out starting immediately, so I'm very happy we got our order in and delivered. I'm excited to get it all set up, but I think that's going to wait until after all the painting is done in there, probably some time in late May/early June. I really wanted to get all the painting done before it got too hot, but it looks like I may have missed that boat - it's supposed to hit 90 tomorrow.

There are some really great things about living in Virginia, but I have to say this is not the place to go for changing seasons. Spring and fall both last about one to two weeks here, so in the spring the temps generally go from 50 to 80 degrees within one week. In the fall, the leaves stay green until all of a sudden it's very cold overnight and then they die and fall off. We certainly don't get New England-style foliage here.

Dad and I were talking recently about the possibility of a trip up to Caribou, ME with Tom and the baby next year. The more I think about it, the more excited I get :) I really love it up there, especially in the summer. It's so relaxing to be somewhat removed from the usual busyness of life. Tom's never been up to that part of Maine before, either, so I think it'll be fun to show him where my family is from. Tom's only caveat is that we have to fly the majority of the way. We can get flights with one stop into Bangor, then have another 3 hour drive to get to Caribou. With a 10-month-old, that'll be tough, but I think it'd be doable. So we'll see!
