Lots of Updates

Well, it happened. Ellie turned one. The day came and went. And now I have a one-year-old. It makes me feel giddy with happiness and a little nauseous all at the same time.

On Ellie's birthday, we woke up to some yummy breakfast pancakes, with syrup, and the perfect birthday dress.

Then we headed over to the pediatrician's office. Her check-up went great! She's up to 17lbs 8oz and finally made it onto the "actual" weight chart (as opposed to the chart adjusted for her prematurity). She's fully caught up developmentally, and we got the OK to stop formula and try out eggs and peanut butter. Unfortunately, the very next morning, we tried scrambled eggs and got this:

Hives around her mouth :( So I called the doctor's office back to let them know and we scheduled a blood draw. Right now we're not totally sure if it's a delayed reaction to the eggs (the reaction didn't start until after lunch, and she had the eggs for breakfast), or if it's a reaction to tomatoes (she's eaten a different variety before, but the reaction seemed to come after eating the tomatoes). The blood draw was bad...I thought I was going to pass out. Ellie was great, though, she didn't even flinch and was actually loving all the attention. Like she doesn't get enough at home...hahaha!

Anyway, after all that drama, we had Ellie's first birthday party scheduled for Saturday. It ended up being a very small get-together with some of our favorite people! Ellie snuck a cookie beforehand, played with some good buddies, and generally enjoyed all the attention (and presents - thanks!).

This weekend we have a fall fest/car show to attend at church, so I need to whip up some cake pops for that. We also have tickets to the Cox Farms fall festival, plus the monthly young adults lunch with people from church on Sunday afternoon. So busy! But at least my biggest church project, the re-tooling of the website, is now completed...check it out, I'm very proud of all the graphics and just general prettiness to it now :) It was very plain before, and not very functional. Next up is getting me up to speed on maintaining it, creating an alert for cancellations, and saving bulletins and audio recordings of sermons. http://www.pleasantvalleyumc.net/

I'm also working on our own blog here (obviously)...it seemed high time for a fall-inspired make-over. It's getting VERY late now, and I'm still not happy with the background, so I'm going to call it a night for now. Hopefully I'll be able to find some time tomorrow or Wednesday to get it finished, it's quite boring now.
