It's been great...so surreal.
I guess starting from my last post, we spent the night at the hospital on Tues and it was just exhausting. The thing I never realized about caring for a newborn is that you are not awake all night. Throughout the night you are able to actually fall asleep quite a few times. But, every time you begin to drift off, the baby cries and needs something. I stayed awake until about 1am just holding her and enjoying her. But from about 1:30am onward, she was SO fussy! She would only stop crying if I held her next to me. So I took care of her as best I could, then finally woke Tom up around 4:30am so I could get some help. He took her for about an hour and a half while I crashed. When we got home later in the morning, we both slept from about 10am-1pm and it was desperately needed. I'm hoping our first night together in our home goes a little better.
So today we drove out to the hospital around 9:30 in the morning to pick her up. As much as we appreciate those doctors and nurses, we were so glad to be saying goodbye! When we came in, I went in first to let Joey smell Ellie's hat and get him ready for her. Then Tom and Ellie came in and Joey met her for the very first time! He seems to really like her :) He smelled her a bit and his tail wagged like crazy. He keeps trying to peek at her...like when she was in her Pack N' Play, he got up on his hind legs to look in on her. And whenever she cries, he starts to whimper. It's very cute.
Wish us luck for a good night tonight! I have quite a few more pictures to add to our Picasa album (see the link on the right), but I don't have the cord with me right now, so I'll have to post them when I have a chance tomorrow.

That's adorable about Joey and Ellie. She'll be pulling on his tail in no time.
So happy for you and Tom; I can't wait to see pictures of Ellie at home!
Congratulations Shan =)
