D-Day is getting closer and closer and I'm quite literally beginning to feel the pressure. Sleeping's getting tougher, as well. I had a good night's sleep a few days ago, but that's been pretty much it in the past week. When I'm not suffering from insomnia, I'm getting up to pee, or get a drink, or having crazy dreams. Weird anecdote: when I do dream, I'm usually pregnant in the dreams. It took a while before I started dreaming about being pregnant like it is just a fact of life, I kind of wonder how long it'll take after the delivery to start dreaming about being not pregnant again.
I have to say, I have loved pregnancy and being pregnant, but as the days pass, I'm getting more and more excited to have my normal body back. The feeling of being pregnant is actually kind of similar to visiting a foreign, non-English-speaking country. It's just tiring. Everything you do has an extra layer of stress just because you have to adapt to situations in a million small but different ways, and the cumulative effect of all these adaptations leads to just utter exhaustion.
My favorite part has been feeling her move. I think that's probably everyone's favorite part, but she's such a lazy, mellow little baby and the placenta is padding her kicks so well, that I still don't really feel her all the time, so when I do feel her, I have to take a moment to absorb it because it's just so special. It's pretty much the only time that I'm not just completely incredulous at the fact that there is a real baby in there.
She's getting big, too - up to 4 1/2lbs and 19 inches according to the baby books this week. She'll be putting on about a half pound per week from now until around 37 weeks, at which point the growth will slow again. Less than two months left...7 weeks...49 days...EEEEK! I'm hoping to have all my prep work done by 35 weeks so I can just relax for the last month or so, but that's just two weeks away!
How far along? 33 weeks!!!
Best moment this week? Tom was able to feel Eleanor a few times throughout this weekend and feeling her with him is always just magical...I love it!
What I am looking forward to: My parents' visit this weekend! It'll be great to spend time with them and hopefully we'll be able to get a few things done much more quickly and easily with their help. And I REALLY can't wait to have Ellie's dresser up in her room, and just looking forward to the long weekend in general. Oh, and our pediatrican appointment tomorrow afternoon. I guess this is a really great week!
Weekly Wisdom: Get things done as far in advance as possible, even if people think you're nuts. I desperately wish I would have started on my pre-baby cleaning earlier and the hypnobirthing class that I'm taking definitely would have been much more helpful if I had more time to practice before her birth.
