At a macro level, that's great - she's gained over the minimum .5oz per day that they like to see. Not quite the holy grail of 1oz/day growth, but we'll definitely take it! On the other hand, I feel like my supply is decreasing again and, judging by my home scale, her growth has slowed as well (she was weighing 12lb 8oz by this time last week). Based on the timing, I think it's because I ran out of a particular herbal supplement I was taking, so I stopped at Whole Foods on the way home and picked up a new bottle. If it brings my supply back up, I'll keep taking that and probably try weaning off the domperidone.
In the mean time, the pediatrician encouraged me to start her on fruits and veggies, so I picked up some bottles of those as well. I had been hoping to make it to six months before starting her on solids, but we're really just hobbling along on my breast milk here and I think this is about as good as it's going to get. Since that's the case, I'm hoping the additional calories from the solids will round out her diet. And it's not like it's a terrible thing to do, the pediatrician was recommending it...I just wanted to try Baby-Led Weaning (here's the gist of it: http://www.babyledweaning.com/)this time, it makes a lot of sense to me. But, Bea's really been showing some signs of readiness in the past week (she nearly ate my cookie yesterday!), so I figured we could go ahead and start a little early. I'll probably switch her over to eating table food much sooner than I did with Ellie, though.
Here's a few photos from her lunchtime adventure today, she gobbled it up!
"What the heck is THAT, Mom?"
"Wait, what do you want me to do with this??"
Got Oatmeal?
"YUMMO!"
I couldn't believe she ate the whole thing!
